HEY. ARE YOU LOOKING AT MY EYE...sweet.

*First off thank you for everyone's prayers for Betsy this week. We appreciate it!
*We dropped ek and max at grampy and mimi's and headed up to k.c. A quick stop for dinner, some shopping at Dick's Sporting goods and then finally to bed.

deal of the day: Buy 1 soccer ball, get 1 betsy
*The next day started off with a visit to Bud (the ocularist), he used wax to build up and enlarge her existing conformer. Then after making sure the fit was correct, made a mold out of it for her new one.  It was amazing how much the larger conformer opens up her eye.  We had several breaks while he worked on the new conformer. So we spent some time at target.
*Then back to bud's to check out the new conformer. After a couple more fittings, we had another break to let Bud work. So we headed to see Dr. Stahl (the ophthalmologist/surgeon)
She thought Betsy's eye had gotten smaller, but reminded us that as long as the eye does not become painful, we wont worry about the size of the eye or removing it completely. She checked Betsy's good eye and fit her for glasses. She will wear glasses (as long a we can keep them on) to protect her good eye. I picked out a hilariously cute pair (pictures to come when we get the glasses.)  Anyhoo we discovered on our way back to Bud's that since Betsy's good eye was dilated during her appointment with Dr. Stahl, Bud would be unable to paint her conformer that afternoon. AAAAAHHHHHHHH.
WHAT DO YOU MEAN NO NEW EYE TODAY?
*After my initial disappointment (yes there were tears) we decided that staying another night in K.C. (in a great place that our friends kindly let us use) with only 1 child. Well, there are worse things. :)
when you sleep in until 8, you get donuts. rock.on.
*Bud was kind enough to squeeze us in the next day to paint her conformer. It only took him 15 minutes, yes 15 minutes to paint it to match her other eye. (seriously shouldn't it take like 5-6 hours?)
Betsy sat and had lunch, while Bud painted away.
The conformer had to cure for an hour, so we went back to Dick's sporting goods to try out some sleds.
*We headed back yet again to bud's to try out the new conformer. DRUM ROLL PLEASE............

*It is so amazing. I find that it's hard to put into words. wow. This is such a neat early birthday gift for our precious pirate princess.

  16. Oh, Sara! That is fabulous! You've made my 5 am browsing session worth "getting" to wake up so early on a Sunday a treat. (I'm a little jealous that Betsy slept until 8 am). Did you buy a sled? I'm thinking if I buy one, maybe it won't snow! So happy for Betsy and all of you!
